In these times of instant gratification, a customer expects a discount on a product each time they visit your store.
Thus the challenge for merchants is to provide the best offer at the right time to the customer.
A merchant may be offering discounts on their products to encourage their customers to buy more already. However, the discounts may not be what their customers expected or not on the products they expected. I feel that this is an ideal scenario for gamification- let the customer choose the discount they want. The gamification of a sale is unique to each customer.
In this PoV, I discuss how we use a reinforcement learning model to read a customer’s preferences and predict offers on the items based on their past purchase behavior. This in turn leads to an upsell and an increased basket size for the business.
